User Guide
Welcome to Chore Manager! Here is everything you need to know to get your family organized and earning rewards.
For Adults
1. Set Up Your Family
When you register, you create a new Family Unit or join an existing one using a 6-character code. Data is strictly isolated—your chores, rewards, and members are only visible to your family. Go to the Manage Family tab to invite other parents (using your Family Code) or add accounts for your kids.
2. Create & Assign Chores (Auto-Pilot)
Visit the Chores tab. First, build your "Chore Library" (e.g., Fold Laundry, Walk Dog).
- Direct Assignment: Assign a task to a specific kid. You choose the frequency (e.g., Daily, Weekly on Tuesdays). The system automatically generates these tasks for the next 60 days on a rolling basis.
- Rotations: Select a group of kids and a weekly task. The system automatically rotates who does the chore each week, balancing the load fairly.
Tip: The system runs on "Auto-Pilot"! Once you set up a direct assignment or rotation, tasks will appear on your kids' dashboards automatically forever.
3. Manage Rewards
In the Rewards tab, create items your kids can "buy" with their points. These can be physical items (Toys, Screen Time) or Cash Payouts via Venmo.
4. Review Work
Your Dashboard Overview shows a "Review Center". When kids mark a chore as done, it appears here. Approve it to award points, or Reject it with feedback if it needs to be redone.
For Kids
1. Your Mission Dashboard
Your dashboard is focused on Today's Mission.
- Daily Tasks: You only see tasks due Today (or overdue). Future tasks stay hidden until their day comes.
- Weekly Tasks: You can see all weekly tasks for the current week, so you can plan ahead!
Check the Daily Progress Bar at the top to track your completion! When you finish a task, click Done.
2. Earn Points & Set Goals
Every chore is worth points. Decide what you want to save up for by clicking "Set Goal" on any reward in the Shop. Watch your Goal Progress bar fill up as you complete tasks!
3. Redeem Rewards
Once you have enough points, click Redeem. Your adult will get a notification to give you your reward.
Frequently Asked Questions
How secure is my data?
Values like names and emails are encrypted. Passwords must be 8+ characters and are securely checked against known data breaches to keep you safe.
How do cash payouts work?
If a reward is type "Cash", adults can pay it directly to the child.
What happens if I reject a chore?
The chore goes back to the kid's list marked as "Rejected". They can see your feedback, fix the work, and resubmit it.
Can I edit points later?
Yes! When approving a chore, adults can override the point value (e.g., give a bonus for great work, or partial points for half-effort).
Is it free?
Yes, Chore Manager is currently a free tool for your family.
